Lin's hand shook as he poured tea. His master, Old Chen, sat pale and weak. Three days ago, a rival school poisoned him. The poison moved slowly. Lin had no antidote.
A letter arrived. "Meet me at the bridge tonight," it said. "Bring the Jade Sword." The Jade Sword was Old Chen's treasure. It was not just a weapon. It held the school's honor.
Lin went to the bridge. A tall man waited there. "Give me the sword," the man said. "Then your master lives." Lin's heart beat fast. He wanted to save Old Chen. But he could not give up the sword.
Lin drew his own blade. "No," he said. The man laughed and attacked. His fist flew like a snake. Lin blocked it, but the man was stronger. A second strike hit Lin's shoulder. He fell to the ground.
The man raised his hand for a final blow. Then Lin remembered his master's words. "A true fighter uses softness, not force." Lin rolled aside and stood up. He did not attack. He breathed slowly. He let the man come to him.
The man rushed again. Lin stepped to the side, light as a leaf. He touched the man's wrist gently. The man's own power threw him off the bridge. He fell into the dark water.
Lin returned to the tea house. Old Chen smiled weakly. "You did not use the sword," he said. Lin poured two cups of tea. His hand was now calm. "The sword is still here," Lin said. "So is the honor."

❓ FAQ
- 本文には「poured」「blocked」「rolled aside」「stepped to the side」など身体動作を表す動詞が豊富です。
- 「give up」と「give in」の違いを教えてください。
本文では「But he could not give up the sword.(しかし彼は剣を手放せなかった)」と使われ、所有や努力を放棄する意味です。
- 本文の「A true fighter uses softness, not force.」
「He let the man come to him.」 また「His fist flew like a snake.」
